Why should you register a domain name ? |
There are many advantages to registering your own domain name (www.yourdomain.com). First, you will not have to change your email address in the future, even if you move to a new hosting company or ISP.
From now on, you could have an email address such as "yourname@yourdomain.com" and never have to change it!
Second, "www.yourdomain.com" is easier to remember than an extended URL like www.yourhost.com/client/~yourbusinessname/. Not to mention that a Website with the www.yourdomain.com URL lends more credibility to your organization and usually receives higher ranking on search engines.
Finally, if you do not register your domain name now, somebody else could register the name before you. By registering now, you will save money in the long run as resolving domain name disputes can be very expensive, with costs often running into the thousands of dollars. Better to own your domain name now before someone else claims it. You can register a domain name with us for as low as $18.44 per year!
By the way, you can also choose to register your domain name with us and have it hosted by another provider. Just specify your hosting provider's DNS information in the registration form.
How to Register a Domain Name
Step 1
Choose the domain names to be registered. The available extensions are: .com, .net, .org, .ca, .biz, .info, .cc, .tv, .us, .name, .uk, .de and .cn.
You can check the availability or your domain name using the Whois search form found here.
Once you have found an available domain name, proceed to the order form to begin the registration process.
Step 2
During the ordering process, you will be required to complete the form with the domain owner information. You must provide a valid email address or your registration will fail.
You must also specify the number of years for which you wish to register the domain name. You will save a significant amount of money if you register for several years.
About DNS
The registration form requires that you specify the DNS settings for your domain name. The DNS information is provided by your Web hosting company. It is required that you specify a minimum of two DNS (primary and secondary). The tertiary DNS is typically not required unless it is required by your hosting company. If you host your Website with Technim, the DNS information to be specified is as follows:
Primary DNS : ns1.technim.com
Secondary DNS : ns2.technim.com
If you only wish to register your domain name but are not prepared to host it right away, you can park it on our servers for free.
Step 3
Following the registration of your domain name, you will receive a confirmation message by email from The Technim Group. This e-mail will contain all of the passwords, usernames and information required to manage your domain.
Renewing your domain name with The Technim Group is easy. 90 days prior to the expiration date for your domain, you will receive an initial renewal notice. To confirm your registration renewal, simply respond to your Technim Group representative indicating how many years you would like to renew for, and an invoice will be issued. Then, simply pay the invoice before your domain's expiry date.
In the event your payment is not received (and to ensure that you do not forget to renew your domain name registration and risk losing ownership of the domain in question), we also send renewal notices - 60 days, 30 days and 5 days before the expiration of your domain name.
Of course, when it comes to renewing your domain registration (and to avoid any potential problems or the risk of losing your domain name): the earlier - the better. Officially, you have until the expiration date to pay the invoice.

Renewing a Domain Name registered with another Provider

Be Wary of fraudulent renewal messages sent by unscrupulous Providers
Some companies use unethical methods to obtain new clients. One of these methods involves the sending of fraudulent registration renewal messages. These messages, sent by unscrupulous companies, are intended to trick you into believing that the company is your official provider and that your registration must be renewed with them, which, obviously, is not true. Please pay very close attention when you receive these types of messages and mailings. The companies most active in this type of unethical activity are: Domain Registry of Canada and Domain Registry of America. |
